How far a prompt gets you — and where it stops

AI is strongest at the first version of an interface and weakest exactly where software becomes consequential: the parts nobody sees.

This is a sample entry. The structure is final; the full write-up is on its way.

Knowing the edge of the tool is what lets you use it fearlessly up to that edge.

What does it do well?

  • Turning a described interface into a working one in minutes.
  • Exploring several directions cheaply enough to throw most of them away.
  • Keeping a team looking at the same artefact instead of the same document.

Where does it hand the problem back?

  • Decisions with long consequences, like how data is shaped.
  • Anything adversarial — access, permissions, abuse, payment.
  • Knowing what should have been tested.
  • Being accountable when it breaks in front of a customer.
